Erchless Castle was the ancient home of the Chief Clan Chisholm from the Norman Conquest until 1935. The estate exends to 12,000 acres from the Upper Beauly to the top of the Phillain at 854m and includes salmon fishing on 12 miles of the River Glass, which is divided into 6 rotating beats.

The castle was originally built at the beginning of the 14th century, as a classic Norman style L- shaped Keep complete with pepper pot turrets. Georgian and Victorian additions were made to give the castle the form it has today. The Victorian wing provides the main letting accommodation, with 7 large bedrooms, a large georgian dining room and all modern facilities.

The castle sleeps 16 plus 2 children in the bunkroom.

Fishing
The River Glass is a beautiful river divided into 6 beats of 3 rods each, fly only, rotating daily. Fishing runs from mid June to mid October. There is trout fishing on the Upper Beauly and River Glass from April to June, and on the Grom Loch, the Erchless Burn and Long Loch throughout the season.
Stalking
Stalking for 2 rifles is available on the estate and a mixed sporting week with one day 's rough grouse and one day's stalking is possible from August 12th onwards, if conditions permit.
Other Activities
Strathglass is also a wonderful area for walking and birdwatching and there are several golf courses nearby.The village also provides an excellent base if you are looking for more energetic pursuits and some of the most beautiful mountains and glens in Scotland, including the renowned Glen Affric, lie on its doorstep. Cycling is popular in the local area and the village is the finishing line for the annual Highland Cross when participants travel from the west coast to the east coast of Scotland by cycling and running.
