Fantastic fishing in Scotland!
We are delighted to report that Scotland is enjoying some fantastic salmon fishing so far this season. The River Dee has reported over 4000 salmon and 2000 sea trout to date (August).
The northern rivers like the Thurso, Alness, Halladale, Helmsdale are all experiencing very good numbers. A mid August week produced 83 fish on the Alness, over 300 fish on the Thurso and it goes on! Some of our clients have experienced their best salmon fishing ever, which is wonderful news to report.
The River Tay reported that catches have been increasing in the last few weeks and this is looking like the best August for 4 years. Over 3,500 salmon have negotiated the fish ladder at Pitlochry this month and the Ericht counter is registering nearly 9,000 with twice as many grilse having ascended as in the whole of last year. The River Tweed's bottom and lower beats are fishing particularly well at present with numbers of fish entering with each tide.
What encouraging news!
