Fasque & Glendye Estates lie between Fettercairn and Banchory. To the south are the renowned Angus glens and to the north Royal Deeside. Balbegno Castle is at the heart of Fasque and is a spectacular 1560's L Plan castle with a Georgian wing attached.
The Great Hall is Balbegno’s most spectacular room, with an unusual vaulted heraldic ceiling depicting the coats of arms of 13 Scottish peers. The Hall has a table that can comfortably seat 20, a fireplace and lots of comfortable chairs for kicking back and relaxing. And there’s still plenty of space to run around or dance or whatever. The dining room is more formal (but not at all stuffy) and can seat about 14. There is also a spacious drawing room and six bedrooms that can sleep up to thirteen guests. There are open fires throughout the castle, and all rooms are stylishly furnished by famed contemporary interior outfitters Pedlars.
The Castle’s extensive private garden features woodland, lawns and rose beds, and entertains all generations, with a croquet set, toys and games provided alongside wellies; while inside the pool table and endless board games make for great fun evenings.
Balbegno sits in the shadow of The Highlands, in the centre of thousands and thousands of acres of undisturbed wilderness. Guests have exclusive access to Fasque Lake, an eight hectare ornamental lake with three islands and a rowing boat. The lake offers fishing for trout and endless opportunities for camping, walking and mucking about.
The Castle is twenty minutes from a sandy beach, and field sports and golf are the most popular of the many activities available locally.
Fasque & Glendye Estates offer first-class red and roe stalking, grouse and pheasant shooting and trout fishing on the River Dye. Stalking, shooting and family parties are welcome in all seasons and a top local caterer can be arranged for a full week or for special shoot dinners and celebrations.
