Erchless Cottage sits within the grounds of Erchless Castle which was the ancient home of the Chief Clan Chisholm from the Norman Conquest until 1935. The estate exends to 12,000 acres from the Upper Beauly to the top of the Phillain at 854m and offers top class Red Deer stalking for up to two rifles, together with salmon fishing on 12 miles of the River Glass, which is divided into 6 rotating beats.

Strathglass is also a wonderful area for walking and birdwatching and there are several golf courses nearby. The village also provides an excellent base if you are looking for more energetic pursuits and some of the most beautiful mountains and glens in Scotland, including the renowned Glen Affric, lie on its doorstep. Cycling is popular in the local area and the village is the finishing line for the annual Highland Cross when participants travel from the west coast to the east coast of Scotland by cycling and running.
