WE SAY...
This is the perfect place for a large family gathering or to celebrate a special occasion. The main house and all the cottages can sleep fifty guests.
YOU SAY...
We had a very relaxing break with great weather! The cottage (The Coach House) was all we expected and more, full of character and well equipped. The location was excellent for us and we managed to explore the surrounding area well. Nino Stewart was welcoming and helpful and we would have no hesitation in staying at Kinlochmoidart again, indeed we probably will if only to see more of the main house! We learnt a little of it's history and the recent restoration is clearly of extremely high quality and served to protect a stunning building for generations to come.
Waking up on the first morning to see a young stag just outside the window was an unexpected bonus!
Best wishes

Kinlochmoidart House, a Scots Baronial mansion, offers very spacious and adaptable accommodation, and stands in a stunning location on the 5000 acre Kinlochmoidart Estate, close to the shores of Loch Moidart.
The area is steeped in history and the former site of Kinlochmoidart House was used as a resting place by Bonnie Prince Charlie. The house was designed by William Leiper in 1884 and is a fine example of his work. It has recently undergone extensive renovation and has been cleverly divided into self-contained units.
The main house, incorporating the Grand Hall, complete with Billiard Table, has accommodation for up to 18.
Leiper House, adjacent, but self-contained is spacious and has many period features and has accommodation for 9.
The Turret, being the former service wing has charming accommodation for 4.
Each property can be rented separately, or the whole can be taken for a large party, family gathering, or even for a wedding, giving total accommodation of 31.
There are also 4 other cottages on the estate that can be rented, which would provide further accommodation for 19, they are :
Dairy House - accommodation for 2 people
Coach House - accommodation for 2-4 people
Glenfield - accommodation for 2 people
Colt House - accommodation for 11 people
Full catering services can be arranged. A local cook is available on request.
Kinlochmoidart, Leiper & The Turret accommodation for 31.
The whole estate can sleep 50 guests.
Fort William - 40 miles
Lochailort - 13 miles
Excellent wedding venue.

Thank you for this. We had a stunning week at Kinlochmoidart. The weather was fine, which makes all the difference and was all the more surprising given that the rest of the country was underwater. The Turret was perfect for our needs and Mrs Stewart was very welcoming. All in all, we couldn’t have had a better week and many thanks for your help in arranging it.

I want to thank you very much for your professionalism and hard work at helping with my arrangements for Kinlochmoidart House. You were great at providing timely information and help for all my questions and requirements.
Kinlochmoidart House was perfect in every way for entertaining my friends and celebrating my birthday. Nino Stewart was there to greet Ryan, Sophia, and I when we arrived, and I talked with her at the end just before we departed. She was very helpful and everything was ready for us when we arrived.
We did a number of fun activities – hiked a 6-mile loop trip to Tioram Castle, visited Ardnamurchan peninsula, took the “Jacobite” Steam Train to Mallaig, hiked to the top of Ben Nevis on Wednesday, 20 June, and toured the island of Mull.
The most brilliant idea was your suggestion to have a chef cook for us throughout the week. Thank you for the advice, as it increased our enjoyment of the house and convenience for dining. I have only the highest praise for Laurie Mill and his culinary talents during the week.
Again, Dorcas, my holiday would not have been nearly as well organized or enjoyable without all your efforts – thank you very much!! I have only the highest recommendation for you, your organization, and Laurie Mill.

We had a fantastic time. We had been slightly concerned that it would not be so good second time around but it was even better. We plan to return as much as possible over the years. It is remote but beautiful and so relaxing. The great thing about it is that the rooms are beautifully turned out but you don’t feel you are treading on eggshells. I am telling my friends they should book it.
A secondary issue but important none the less was the bed-sheets. Nino told me she bought them from the White Company so we have bought the same for home.

Thank you so much for suggesting Kinlochmoidart for 2012. We all had the most fantastic holiday, the property is amazing, full of interesting things & the accommodation is excellent, it was great to start to explore another area of Scotland & can see there's much more to discover so everyone is keen to return. Mrs Stewart made our stay so easy, was very helpful if we needed anything & just left us to get on with our trip, perfect!

We had a super time, the house is ideal for entertaining 21 thirsty and hungry people. The flexibility of Leaper was very helpful also. The house has a super feel to it and the evenings were extra special in the spacious dining room.
I would recommend the sea kayaking which we booked through Rockhopper, based in Fortwilliam. A recommendation from Glenuig hotel. They can also provide this for more experienced kayakers.
Stalking is also superb, with amazing views. Extra special to have nice, helpful stalkers who took their time and explained to the novices about the art of stalking.
Thank you for making the booking so easy. It was a super couple of days.

That's us returned yesterday from Kinlochmoidart House after my 60th birthday weekend.
Can I say what a fantastic time we all had. Over 30 in the party, including my 2 grandchildren, and every single one of us had a ball. The house was superb, Nino is a very attentive hostess, but very unobtrusive and Jill ,the caterer that you recommended, was quite outstanding.
She even suggested the dj for Saturday evening!! And to top it all one of my very good friends caught his first ever salmon.
Thank you very much for helping make my birthday celebrations even more special.

We had a lovely stay at Kinlochmoidart. We had all sorts of weather, as usual, and thoroughly enjoyed rediscovering the area. Glenfield was very comfortable and the grounds of the house magnificent. The fishing was also enjoyable although we didn't catch anything.
We had a terrific time (at Kinlochmoidart) and everyone wants to go back sometime. Big shame its all over now. Jill was brilliant. Peter
We did enjoy our stay at Leiper House very, very much.
All of us have been quite pleased, I would even say smitten by the property and the grounds. Our landladies have been very helpful and there was simply nothing whatsoever we could criticize.
Thank you very much for your help. I am looking forward to working with you again in the near future.
We all enjoyed the house and the location. The house is spacious and full of character. The Stuarts are relaxed hosts and did not seem to mind the noise and disturbance generated by children, dogs and over-excited adults. A great holiday for our family and freinds, capped by great catering by Jill Gosney.
Our stay at Kinlochmoidart was very nice, it was just a shame we couldn't stay longer. The Coach House was very comfortable, even for the couple who slept in the upper beds who had to scale the ladder
Dear Dorcas
We had an excellent stay. Duncan and Ruth were both very kind and hospitable to us, and the house was just amazing. We all 23 agreed that none had stayed any where so grand before. The place was fantastic, and all for less than a budget hotel's nightly rate!
Many thanks to all,
Matt Whitney
I was not the organiser nor was I the last (or the first) to arrive but I think I’m safe in saying that everyone was very impressed with the accommodation that you provided; in so far as we needed it we were looked after by the people on the ground very well.
We were incredibly fortunate with the weather, of course, and as you know the surroundings are magnificent; in other words we had the best possible time.
Kinlochmoidart Estate:
It has been widely praised as the best party EVER anyone has been to. Nino was very welcoming. Robert and his group were perfect. All in all I couldnt be happier.
Thank you, 51 is only a year away :)

My family and I had a superb time at the Kinlochmoidart Estate. This will be a Christmas we will never forget, from the stunning scenery of Mountains, Lochs, Rivers and endless countryside covered with a think blanket of powdery snow, to the majestical Kinlochmoidart House, this was a perfect way to spend our last Christmas together before we emigrate to Australia.
We spent one of the coldest weeks in Scotland, where everything just stood completely still, while natures winter took hold and delivered a fantastic and picturesque backdrop.
We would like to thank Mrs Nino Stewart, her husband Duncan, Ruth and Andrew for all their efforts to keep us happy during our stay, this was not an easy task as the winter tried it best to beat them. The grandchildren just loved the Christmas Tree for their presents to nestle under and also Rudolf turned up Christmas Eve to check out where Santa was suppose to drop off their presents....how perfect. We had a fantastic time on the Kinlochmoidart Estate, it was everything that I wanted for such a milestone in life. I wanted to hit 40 with a bang and do something really different and this most certainly was. It was the perfect place and opportunity for friends and family to meet for the first time and get to know each other.
My family all live in England and had never been to scotland, and what a place to go on your first visit. They all really enjoyed it. My Parents even came back to Edinburgh and stayed for an extra 3 days. They may even come back again!!
Mrs Stewart and "staff" (sorry I don't remember names) were always helpful and really had no objections to anything we wanted to do, from having a Band in the house to play on the saturday night, to moving furniture around and rearranging the tables in the dinning room. Fetching more fire wood for the fires....
The weather was kind for this time of the year with some very good sunny warm days and the odd very very wet day.
The Estate was made for lots of fun and enjoyment, this acompanined by good local food, drink and excellent company made the perfect celebration.
If you ever need a reference for the estate please let me know.
Kind regards
Mark

Hi Dorcas,
The weekend was incredible, thank you so much for helping me organise it. Kinlochmoidart House was amazing, it had everything we needed and despite the forecast for hail storms and heavy showers we had fabulous weather.. Hopefully we'll be able to go back sometime.
Thanks again, Mitra

Thank you. We had an absolutely wonderful time and good weather at Kinlochmoidart. The house was magic and very well equipped. We had a big dinner and a ceilidh, both of which were enhanced by the surroundings.

Hi Dorcas,
Kinlochmoidart was really wonderful, extremely beautiful and with so many interesting artefacts. Mrs Stewart was very helpful, the food and overall service by Jill was exceptional, the coach driver was excellent (from GoClick travel that you recommended) and the whole weekend was fantastic.
Thank you very much for all your help throughout the time and I would have no hesitation recommending you to anyone who is thinking of doing something like this.
All the best,
Ari

The week was magical - in no small part due to the weather.
It seemed like such an extravagance beforehand, but Kinlochmoidart was truly perfect. Everyone had heaps of space and kids could play noisily in a far corner away from my dad who needed lots of rest. We went to Tobermory (Balamory) on my niece's 6th birthday and generally had a ball. My thanks again for all the assistance in arranging a truly unforgettable holiday and family milestone. All the best. Stephen
I am happy to report that I enjoyed the greatest birthday of my adult life
in June at Kinlochmoidart. I would like to thank everyone at George
Goldsmith for help in sorting out the fine details - from Jill Gosney's
cooking to Paddy and Libby Shaw's dance band, to the piper and Keith Eddie's
light show. Kinlochmoidart has firmly cemented itself as my family&'s
favourite place on earth (this was our third time staying there, and
counting..)
Sincerely, Duncan Robinson

Just to say thanks very much for your efforts in arranging the Kinlochmoidart booking for my birthday. It really is a wonderful estate and we were very fortunate to have blue sky as well. The food provided by your recommended local cook, Jill Gosney, was top rate. We had a ceilidh followed by more dancing and everyone had a great time. I think the Danish contingent particularly enjoyed the highland scenery, coming from such a flat country. I look forward to visiting the estate again in the near future.

We had an absolutely superb time in Kinlochmoidart last weekend - it all went off without a hitch and we had good weather as well, just to round off
the weekend, plus the house itself lived up to all expectations. Best regards.
Thank you for your note.
I can only report that we had a magnificent time, everyone loved the estate, it will be the most memorable week of our lives!
I think one of the plus points about Kinlochmoidart, apart from the fabulous buildings and location, is the unprententious attitude of Nino Stewart, she basically lets one get on with it and does not interfere or have a long list of rules! It truly felt like our home. But she was there if we needed her.
We would certainly go back there, and just hope the right occasion arises, so that we can.
Very best Wishes

We had a wonderful holiday at Kinlochmoidart and would all really love to go back again. It was the second time in the house for most of us. We would change nothing. We had a group of 26, ranging in age from a very fit 67 to just under one year and we all found it a very special holiday. We especially found the local people very friendly and helpful and ate some wonderful local beef, fish and venison. It was so lovely to have a big family get together in such a wonderful spacious house.
