YOU SAY...
I wanted to communicate my own thanks to you, your team, and the team at Knock. You may have been aware that the holiday was a present for Dad in celebration of his 60th Birthday and I don’t think we could have asked for a more successful trip.
Knock House is supremely comfortable and superbly set up for house parties. Kim and her team kept the place immaculate all week and Michelle Cowe was brilliant. She never once seemed stressed or flustered which is such a good quality in a cook and her food was delicious.
We all enjoyed the sport and had some thoroughly good stalking. Donald and Andrew were not only good stalkers but excellent company too. Having spent most of my time on the hill I didn’t spend much with Roland or Nielsen but I know those who did thoroughly enjoyed themselves. My sister in particular had some excellent fishing with Roland.
Please pass on my thanks to all the team. I know Dad is hoping to take a week at Knock next year and I hope that plan comes to fruition – I will be back there straight away if it does!

Stalking
The Benmore Estate is a famous deer forest with some of the finest stalking grounds in Argyll. 20-25 stags are shot each year and in most weeks up to two stalking parties can be accommodated on the hill each day. Mull stags are impressively large and stalking is available from mid August onwards. The owner has recently acquired Toronsay Estate, closeby, which extends to a further 10,000 acres and offers superb additional stalking for another rifle.
Fishing
The estate has fishing on both the River Ba and Loch Ba. The River Ba is approximately 2 miles in length and consists of 6 named pools. The river flows out of Loch Ba and runs down to Loch na Keal. Salmon and sea trout run from late June to October.
Loch Ba is almost 3 miles in length and offers excellent salmon and sea trout fishing amidst spectacular highland scenery. The estate has two clinker built fishing boats on the loch with outboard motors in addition to a recently converted fishing bothy for use by house guests.
Loch na Keal also offers excellent quality sea fishing and the estate also successfully creel for lobster, prawn and crab in the loch from their Orkney fishing boat. The estate have a sea boat which is available for use by prior arrangement.
Boating
Knock is big on boats! There is a 42ft motor cruiser which is readily available for guests to use during their time at Knock. Lady Benmore is skippered by Donald Bissett who is of course fully qualified to take out guests. This includes trips to the islands including Tiree, where you can go for lunch! Tobermory is also easily accesible by boat. Whale and dolphin watching is a regular occurence and barbecues on deserted white sand beaches, accessed only by boat, is all part of the week's activities.
The estate also own a 25ft deep sea fishing boat and this has been another popular day's activities for those who are not going to the hill to stalk. 180lb skate have been caught on a regular basis! In addition there is a Rib speedboat for water skiing as well as sailing dinghies, canoes and windsurfers.

Once again we had a fabulous stay. The house staff, particularly Kim, Glenys and Renata were delightful and we all much enjoyed the company and skills of Donald, Roland, Andrew, and Nielson outside. Our cook, Louise Palmer was the same as last year and I cannot recommend her highly enough. I have sampled many cooks fare over the years and she is streets ahead of everyone else.

My family and friends had a wonderful time at Knock House in October. The owner really should be proud of the quality of the keepers, staff, he has at Knock House. Donald was extremely professional yet also approachable and friendly. He put us all, including our wives, at ease. We were all extremely impressed by Andrew's thoughtfulness and of course Donald's ready enthusiasm to go out of his way for us. Kim and her team were equally impressive. Thank you for arranging this for us: we are already looking forward to next year.

We have had a fantastic week at Knock House. Both the house and the staff exceeded our expectations not to mention Mull itself. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week. I was particularly impressed by the way the ghillies, led by Donald, ensured that there was something for everybody and most of us achieved a first sporting experience at some point in the week; this was no mean feat considering the variety of ages and personalities within the group! We have some wonderful memories of a very special week. Many thanks for your help with the booking and for the introduction to Pip who produced the most amazing meals and didn't complain at our occassional last minute time delays. We are seriously considering booking for next year. With kind regards. Jan Sibthorpe
